Not Worth Peanuts?
When Jimmy Carter goes into the cold, hard ground, how will his epitaph read in the history books?Granted, I have never been a fan of his Presidency. The man melted faster than microwaved butter in the face of the slightest adversity. Every crisis of his term met with the same glazed, empty gaze and the same stammering responses. However, at least he wasn't Gerald Fucking Ford.
Regardless of how ineffectually Carter governed the country, does he really deserve what happened to him on C-Span?

Mel Gibson was called an anti-Semite for quoting the fucking Bible, for Gods' sake!! The Holocaust happened (well, not to Mel...) sixty years ago - get over it. All of your whining makes me want to fire up a gas chamber. Okay, that WAS anti-Semitic.
Anyway, do you think these horrible accusations really apply to Carter? Does he deserve this?

No I don't think these charges apply to Carter.
I remember his presidency the same way you do. The word "weak" comes to mind, but other than the Iranian hostage crisis, I can't think of another reason why. I do know that he is truly a good man. A former president who routinely staps on a carpenter's apron and builds houses for the poor. He is not bigoted in any way.
I don't know, I can't watch the video now (assload of HW) but I just wanted to say that the middle peanut there with a little bit of the skin gone kinda looks like my penis, except the peanut is smaller.

I don't know enough about him to have an opinion. Current events made me so sick growing up I kept my head buried in the dirt for a long time.
I don't see how a person can be a Christian and not be anti-semitic. I guess since the faithful are all internally delusional they can live in the delusion of being pro other faith.

@ ryk: What about the oil crisis that caused gas prices to skyrocket? Didn't that happen during Carter's reign? So strange...the creeps in the Middle East wanted to punish Carter, but I bet they wish they had someone like him in office now, rather than you know who.

I think an actual Christian who practices the basic, intrinsic tenets of the religion should not be anti-Semitic, but in fact should be anti-anti-Semitic (or, more easily, pro-Semitic). Jesus (that guy in the loincloth they talk about so much) taight forgiveness for one's enemies, and the overlooking of wrong views (like the Pharisees, with whom he dined frequently even though they hated him).
Unfortunately, almost all Christians do not follow even the basics of their religion, and would even be hard pressed to explain what they are.
Religion sucks. Apart from offering a few good guidelines on how to live it's pointless. But that's just what I think. As far as Carter goes, how could a nice old man with that great smile be a racist, a bigot, and anti-Semitic? Nahhhhhhhhh.

As someone likely old enough to be Woozie's mother I'd have to say that the description of his penis was really just too much information, but hey, it's a free country so if he wants to put this out there more power to him.
Anyway, no, Carter did not deserve that. He was a weak president, at least in part because he had a very difficult time getting any cooperation from a wingut congress...big surprise there.
If saying that Israel needs to withdraw to it's 1967 borders but not cede territory to Syria (ie: the Golan Heights)is anti-semitic then I'm anti-semitic.
It's the only possible chance for any peace with Palestine and even if it does not bring immediate peace it would give Israel a firm moral and legal ground to stand on.
Essentially it would leave any militant Palestinian factions tilting at windmills and bring them into disfavour as they deserve to be.

I watched a show about circumsision and it was horrible the babies are litlery strapped down onto these babyshaped boards and this like "pipe cutter" is applied to the skin. Its horrible.
Cirumcision was first introduced into the western world ( I beleive) to deter mastubation- I find it a little amusing that while in most of Europe its no longer the norm here in the US its still very much the norm (hmm I am thinking Drs are reccomending it for the cash ?)

Now that I finally got to watch the video, no he really didn't deserve all that crap from the annoying republican housewife. Carter may not have been the best president but you can't say that he's a bigot or an anti-semite, there's really nothing anti-semetic about him.

We have to give a few cents to the convo on anti-Semites and Penuts.
Carter isn't an anti-Semite but he is ONLY looking at one side of the story in Israel and Palestine.
He is only looking at the good the PA is doing and the bad Israel is doing. Being critical of Israel is fine, but doing it without looking at the other side is anti-Israel.
While we are not ones to say being anti-israel equates anti-semitism, they are very similar. They have to do with hating Jews for who they are. Where is Cater talking about East Timor or Congo or Darfur or Kashmir or Tibet or (the list goes on)
He is pointing out what the Jews are doing. He is being one-sided and alittle near sighted. Anti-semetic? We think this is on the boarder.

Sterculian Rhetoric -- Anti-Semitism has to do with Jews. It is from Euro-land and it has to do with Jews.
Anti-Arab and Anti-Muslim statements and actions are for Arabs and Muslims. Anti-Semitism is a Jewish thing.
If you want we can call it Anti-Jewish but we know that anyone calling for the inclusion of all semetic people is simply trying to change the subject.

The type of anti-semitism stirred up by films like sMel Gibson's The Passion is the MOST ridiculous kind - the 'Christian' kind. What these folks fail to realize is their entire theology falls apart UNLESS Jesus is killed - by his own people.
