Nigger
Well, that pesky "n-word" made a spectacular, vomitorious appearance on this blog over the weekend during a nice little discussion about O.J. Simpson and his dumb-ass nigger jury. I'd like to thank Webpirate for losing his head inside of an oversized Klan hood. Woozie helped him find it, and then convincingly punted it into the endzone. Fun stuff!Race relations obviously continue to struggle along. Not only did it get ugly here, but over the weekend Michael Richards - Kramer on "Seinfeld" - went into a tailspin onstage, abandoning his comedy act to hurl hateful and occasionally bizarre racist slurs at two black men who heckled him. Of course, thanks to the digital age, the entire debacle was recorded for our enjoyment:

Of course, we do not know exactly what the hecklers initially said to set Richards off. The hecklers can be heard calling Richards a "cracker-ass motherfucker," a racial term for which they will never need to apologize. Regardless of what they said to initiate the outburst, however, Richards was obviously wrong to use a public forum in such an ugly way.
We have a long way to go.

Never really hear that word in Australia. People are too busy calling each other a cunt instead. It's our word of choice. Seriously.
Cunt is a lovely word. It perfectly describes the area it represents.
I don't think it does. Personally I like to call it a vag. Simple and neat. It can also fit into a crossword puzzle that only requires three characters.

First of all, I never said you said that black people are lazy first. I realize that I made that GENERAL assertion, which I continue to defend, and I even said at one point that you and I agree on certain things (like this one). I DO think a lot of black people are lazy - I think certain factors, such as a terrible welfare system, the slavery chip on their shoulder, and a general hopelessness seem to greatly contribute to that laziness I observe.
And you're right, I DID use the word NIGGER first, but I also clarified my meaning. I used it to refer to the idiot black jury that set OJ free due to RACIAL issues. Like I said then, if they are going to play the race card, and play it stupidly, then they deserve to be referred to in such an ugly way. THEIR racism is just as ugly as the word nigger. They do not get a free pass to be racist simply because they are black - in fact, they should know horrors of racism better than anyone, and be examples of how to overcome it. Instead, it festers on both sides.
My beef with your use of the word had to do with the fact that you began to hurl that word and other derogatory words at Woozie, a FIFTEEN YEAR OLD black male. I do not know how old you are, but I hope it's not much older than a zygote if you are going to act like that in a public forum to a minor.
The fact is that Woozie made intelligent points, all of which were greeted by you with a sneering, undebatable hostility. You repeatedly called him a nigger, and made several comments about his race, which are personal attacks. Oh, and by the way, the guy is FIFTEEN YEARS OLD. Woozie did respond in a similarly vicious manner, but only after he was provoked. BY YOU.
I agree about Oprah and many others. Black people I talk to hate the Oprah example, because it shows up their lack of motivation, and also undermines their "they keep us from succeeding" mentality.
However, I am not sure I can agree with your points about impoversihed white areas. As you know, here in St. Louis we have certain areas, such as Lemay, or lower Arnold/Jefferson County, that are basically "white trash" areas; there are very few, if any, black people in those areas. And what do we see? Car thefts, rape, murder (although fewer than blacker areas), stealing, and drugs. I had a chance to get a great deal on a house in one of those areas, but I declined; I do not want to live there because they are unsafe (and, frankly, unsanitary - especially Lemay). So I think you might be a little off on that point.
Anyway, I do not want to fight, especially with a fellow St. Louisan. Just try to be somewhat respectful of others and their opinions, but especially those of us like Woozie who are still legally CHILDREN and deserve encouragement and good examples, not unwarranted hatred.
If you are any kind of man, you will apologize to him.

Well Mr. Pirate I don't make generalizations on entire groups of people based on unverified "scientific" data, which is why I have not refuted anything you've said. I have neither the time nor the money needed to collect verifiable, scientific data to provide any facts necessary to refute what you've said, over and over again. I will say (again) that it is both morally and scientifically wrong to make judgments on entire groups of people based on unverified, "scientific" data, and because that is the exact data you so frequently use, your position must be, in the mind of a scientist, deemed incorrewct until verified, scientific data can be supplied to support it. Once that data is acheived, then it can be investigated further to prove whether you're right or wrong.
And your experiences, which can not be verified as neither truth nor absolute lies, does not caount as verification for your FBI supplied statistics.
I can't say it much simpler than that, and I'm not fighting with you again.
Oh, and I'm 16. Not that it matters.
sammy ray seems to have a lot of of parallels with michael richards. maybe he doesn't use the same terms as mr richards but those 2 are truly alike.

Yes, Woozie got upset when you began to blame his race for nearly all violent crime - and you even started the mud slinging, as you have already admitted. So what's wrong getting upset and wanting to defend his perception of things as an intelligent black man, living in a family of black people, who are not on welfare and not violent?

Orhan kahn, "cunt" is one of those words that makes women cringe. Well, not me, but a lot of them. I had a female friend who use to use that word all the time. It's especially effective coming from another chick.

I'm still wondering why people are giving the word "nigger" so much power.
The word "bitch" is now so common that women playfully call each other that. Or use it as a verb. It's lost it's power.
I'm wondering why the word "nigger" hasn't lost its power. Rappers call each other "nigger" all day long. I hear black kids on the street call each other "nigger."
The way we react to something gives it power. Why would someone *want* to empower that word when it would be so easy to see it go the way of "bitch." Answer that question and you've got the answer to a lot of what's wrong with today's society.

Well don't let it blow your mind. As Morgan said, the word nigger os a word that can be quickly turned into something vicious, as you did with the hostile tone you had towards me as well as the argumentative context in which it was used. That is what offended me, not necessarily the word by itself. Usage of the word iand whether or not it's offensive is all about tone and context.

Pirate, Woozie's reaction proves no such thing. It only proves to me that he's like a lot of other people who persist in giving racial slurs and the people who hurl them way too much power.
But I think the reason is political. The more guilt White America has, the more we'll feel we have to atone. It's a stupid cycle.
If people cared about equality - really cared - then everyone whether they are black, white or yellow would judge people by individual merit and not by stereotypes.
I happen to believe there are those self-appointed "leaders" in the black community, such as Jesse Jackson, who perpetuate the victim status.
The word "nigger" is ugly. So is "cunt" and "bitch." But if someone yells, "Hey, bitch!" I don't turn around and look because it doesn't apply to me. If I were to spin around and become hysterical and demand an apology I'd feel ridiculous.

I try not to get offended at much, and I usually don't, but for some reason it really got on my nerves this time.
